**NEW YORK** — Wall Street has begun exploring artificial-intelligence chips as a new financeable asset class, combining the timeless stability of long-term debt with hardware that may be technologically obsolete before the first refinancing call.

The concept is simple: lenders provide billions of dollars against fleets of expensive GPUs, borrowers use the chips to build AI infrastructure, and everyone agrees not to think too hard about what those chips will be worth when Nvidia releases something twice as fast next Thursday.

“This is actually very conservative financing,” said one banker. “The collateral is incredibly valuable today.”

Asked about 2034, he requested that the discussion remain focused on today.

Analysts say the structure could resemble aircraft leasing, except aircraft generally remain useful for decades and are not rendered economically uncompetitive because Boeing introduced a plane with 40 times the FLOPS.

Proponents argue that AI processors generate cash flow while in service and can therefore support sophisticated debt structures.

Critics counter that the phrase **“while in service”** is doing a heroic amount of work.

One proposed security, the **AI Compute Equipment Revenue Obligation Series 2036-A**, would reportedly be backed by 60,000 GPUs, contractual data-center revenue, and the collective assumption that nobody invents a substantially better GPU for ten years.

Ratings agencies are expected to assign the senior tranche AAA after applying a modest technological-obsolescence scenario in which Moore’s Law takes the decade off.

Wall Street remains enthusiastic.

“We’ve financed mortgages, airplanes, cars, credit cards, and office buildings,” said one structured-credit executive. “Eventually you run out of durable assets.”
