Bitcoin Miner Signs $19 Billion AI Deal, Assures Shareholders It Still Believes Deeply In Whatever Uses The Most Electricity

LAKE MARINER, N.Y. - Bitcoin miner TeraWulf reassured longtime shareholders Monday that its roughly $19 billion data-center lease with Anthropic represents no change whatsoever to the company's core mission of finding the most profitable possible reason to plug something into the wall.

The 20-year agreement will shift a growing portion of TeraWulf's business toward hosting artificial intelligence infrastructure, completing what executives described as a natural evolution from computers guessing enormous numbers to computers guessing enormous paragraphs.

"We remain technology agnostic," said a company strategist. "If next year investors decide sentient refrigerators deserve a 40-times revenue multiple, we will proudly become the nation's leading refrigerator infrastructure platform by Thursday."

The company said its expertise in securing land, power and industrial-scale computing facilities made it uniquely positioned for the AI boom, particularly because the main operational requirement of both Bitcoin mining and artificial intelligence is explaining to the local utility why one warehouse now needs the electricity of a small municipality.

Analysts praised the pivot as an example of disciplined capital allocation. Bitcoin mining companies, they noted, spent years insisting that cheap power was valuable because Bitcoin was the future. They can now insist the same cheap power is valuable because AI is the future, allowing the future to change without requiring any changes to the substation.

TeraWulf shares rose on the news as investors celebrated the company's transition from mining scarce digital assets to leasing buildings to companies currently mining scarce investor capital.

The company said it remains open to another strategic pivot should civilization discover a third way to turn electricity directly into market capitalization.
